The Opal Myth

The myth that wearing Opal jewelry will bring bad luck to the wearer, if not your birthstone, is not necessarily true. This fallacy dates back to 1829 when Sir Walter Scott published Anne of Gerstein where the main character dies and her death is attributed to the wearing of Opal. Before this book's release Opal was considered to be a gemstone of good luck, beauty and fascination.

Opal Doublets are Opals that are not thick enough to be cut as solid Opals so they are made using a layer of colorful precious Opal with attached ironstone to the back creating a vibrant array of colors, making them both affordable and vibrantly colorful.

Incidentally, I recently heard a story from a dear customer of mine, who told me that her opal pendant was her talisman for good luck. It's time to dispell the myths from past as Opals are perfect for those of you born in October, but can actually bring good luck to any wearer.
